What's it like to volunteer?
GOMPS relies on on its devoted volunteers to keep the nursery up and running.
Nursery activities vary seasonally and include planting acorns, re-potting seedlings into larger pots, and weeding, mulching, and fertilizing seedlings as needed. Training, gloves, tools and refreshments are provided. Click here to view photos and read about past events Weather appropriate clothing and good work boots are recommended - don't forget sun protection! For convenience, there is now a proper toilet (porta-potty type) on the premises. |
How do you apply to volunteer?
We'd love to hear from all interested volunteers ages 14+.
We ask that all new volunteers fill out a Volunteer Application Form. If you are under 19 years old, we also require an Informed Consent for Minors form filled out by a parent or guardian. We also have an optional Photo / Video Release Form if you'd like to appear in promotional materials for GOMPS (e.g. in the photo gallery on this website). If you are interested in volunteering with the Garry Oak Nursery please contact: Jenny Hebb, GOMPS Director-At-Large and Nursery Volunteer Coordinator Email: jenny.gomps@gmail.com |
